Solveig Andersson, August 27, 1947 - November 20, 2022.
We recently found out that a favourite Swedish actress of ours is no longer with us.
Solveig Andersson, August 27, 1947 - November 20, 2022.
Sadly, there has been no official news in the media about her death.
Solveig Andersson went to the famous acting school Calle Flygare, and was considered to be a great talent. She worked with some of the major names in exploitation cinema in Sweden: Joseph W Sarno (Swedish Wildcats), Boarne Vibenius (Thriller - en grym film/Thriller - a Cruel Picture), Torgny Wickman (Eva - den utstötta/Eva - Swedish and Underage, Skräcken har 1000 ögon/Fear Has 1,000 Eyes, Kyrkoherden/The Lustful Vicar, Lockfågeln/The Decoy), Mats Helge Olsson (I död mans spår/Dead Man's Trail), Calvin Floyd (Vem var Dracula?/In Search of Dracula, Gustav Wiklund (Sängkamrater/Wide Open) and Arne Mattsson (Smutsiga fingrar/Dirty Fingers).
She was also in mainstream films and TV series, like Raskens and Din stund på jorden.
Her best acting role was in Nikkatsu's Swedish-Japanese film Droppar av honung/Drops of Honey (1973), directed by Akira Kato. The film will be released on bluray by Klubb Super 8 during 2024, and eventually will be streamed on Cultpix.
Unfortunately, Solveig's acting career was cut short, when she became a born-again Christian in 1975. In her autobiography Från hjärta till hjärta/From Heart to Heart (1999), she only dedicates one single page to her acting career, so she very much distanced herself from the 11 exploitation roles she did in the 1970s.
