If you have enjoyed the Top 10 lists (Naughty and Nice films) throughout the year you might not be surprised by the films that are ranked here - because they were the ones you watched. Compilations films are clearly a favourite, since they top both the Naughty and Nice Top 10s this year, though with a new entrant for one of them. Some of the films here are our own long time favourite that have been on the site since we first launched it, while the continued popularity of some films frankly perplexes us. But this is YOUR Cultpix, so we don't judge and only hope that you enjoy the films.
Here are the ten most watched films of the 'naughty' variety on Cultpix in 2024 in order of popularity:
1. "Vintage Erotica anno 1970s" (2014) was by far the most popular film of the past 12 months, with it edging out the similarly themed Swedish compilation into second place. We had several 'vintage erotica' films from our friends at Cult Epics, not to mention the Tinto Brass collection (sadly geo restricted to North America, for rights reasons), but the most recent decade of them was also the most popular.
2. "The Swedish Sin 1969-2000" (2000) last year's #1 was knocked into second place, but it is still the best overview of what Swedish films sexy in the 1970s and 1980s, with clips from 18 films, most of which can be found in full on Cultpix.
3. "The Summer With Vanja" (1980) continues to be incredibly popular, year after year, much to our puzzlement. Is it the shots of the Stockholm archipelago that you love? Yes, we know there is sex in it, but this is a bad film scan without English subtitles and not even many good actors. What is the appeal? It's a mystery. But we should get a better restored copy in place with English subtitles and maybe see it sail to the top spot this year.
4. "Pretty Peaches 3: the Quest" (1989) is the third and most popular part of Alex de Renzy's trilogy about sexy naif 'Peaches', confusingly (or post-modernly) played by three different actresses in each one of the films, with Keisha mantling the role here. It is not as much of a comedy as the other two, let alone a social critique, but there's plenty of action. Do watch the other two as well though.
Five. "SexWorld" (1978) Science fiction meets sex in this ambitious spin on "WestWorld". Actually a rather good film. Unlike "The Summer With Vanja" (not that we judge, but actually we do.)
6. "Teenage Fantasies II" (1980). Rene Bond. Need we say more? She's had two theme weeks and we could easily do two more, with her loops and films. This one has seven short stories and Rene shows off her oral skills. John Holmes is in three of the films. We should do a theme week or two with him.
7. "Den k... familjen" (1976) Low-budget Swedish porn that felt the need to censor the world "horny" ('kåta') in the title. Almost as much of a mystery as #3 as to why this one stays so popular.
8. "Super Sex" (1986) More quality erotica shot on 3Five mm film in the second half of the 80s when video tape ruled and with a stellar cast. Well worth watching.
9. "King Dong / Lost on Adventure Island" (1984) This one ticks so many boxes that we managed to re-cycle (sorry, curate) it for not one but two theme months this past year: Theme Month: Go Ape-ril and Theme Month: Amazonian August. Popular despite being 'Mastered from Glorious VHS', as we disclaimer it.
10. "Skandalskolan" (1974) Quality Swedish erotica only just sneaks into the top ten with this, "The Second Coming of Eve". Mac Ahlberg, who would go on to cinematographer on "Beverly Hills Cop 3" and "Re-Animator" directs an international cast.
